For over a 1000 years, damper, a simple bread made from the flour of a variety of grains, has filled the bellies of adventurers sitting around campfires. Its attraction is the simple base ingredients and its ease of cooking. A favourite way to make damper is to cook it on a stick over a campfire.
Join us to make traditional damper bread out in the wood, as the bake-off begins mix and match different ingredients for a taste sensation!
We will provide the ingredients for the damper bread and we ask you to provide a little pot of something extra to mix into the bread to add flavour! Suggestions: Rosemary and sea salt, raisins, cinnamon, nuts and seeds, thyme, chocolate drops and chilli!!! You only need a small amount as the bread to cook over a stick are only small.
Once we have made the bread, We will set off into the wood….learn how to collect tinder and kindling make a fire! We will then get comfy and cook our dampers in the wilderness over our fire using hazel sticks.
